Wellbeing Week: A Celebration of Mental Health and Happiness
This week, across Rowan we have been celebrating Wellbeing Week, coinciding with Children’s Mental Health Week 2025. With the theme 5 Ways to Wellbeing, we have focused on small but meaningful activities to promote mental and physical health. At the same time, we have wholeheartedly embraced the Children’s Mental Health Week theme, Know Yourself, Grow Yourself, helping our pupils develop a deeper understanding of their emotions and personal growth.
Exploring Emotions Through ‘Inside Out’
Assemblies at the start of the week introduced pupils to the beloved characters from Inside Out 1 and 2, helping them better understand their emotions and how these shape their sense of self. In PSHE lessons, the girls explored how their emotions and responses help define their values, interests, and talents—what makes them them! Taking inspiration from Inside Out’s main character, Riley, and her islands of personality, the girls created their own islands to represent what they hold most important in their lives. It was a fantastic exercise in self-reflection, sparking meaningful discussions about identity, values, and personal strengths.
5 Ways to Wellbeing: A Daily Focus
Alongside these activities, each day of Wellbeing Week has highlighted a different aspect of wellbeing:
• Monday: Move More – Encouraging physical activity to boost mood and energy.
• Tuesday: Eat Well – Highlighting the importance of nutrition and healthy eating habits.
• Wednesday: Unwind – Exploring relaxation techniques and stress management.
• Thursday: Be in Nature – Appreciating the benefits of spending time outdoors.
• Friday: Connect More – Strengthening friendships and relationships.
To start each day on a positive note, registration sessions have featured uplifting songs such as Hakuna Matata and How Far I’ll Go, prompting discussions about their messages and how they relate to wellbeing. Throughout the week the girls have taken part in short activities during registration, breaktime, and within lessons. A simple daily gratitude practice has encouraged self-reflection, with pupils writing down three things they are grateful for each day.
A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to making this week a success. By prioritising wellbeing and self-discovery in both structured and informal ways, we hope our girls take away positive habits that will stay with them far beyond this week.
