Anti-Bullying Week at Rowan

This week saw Rowan proudly participate in Anti-Bullying Week 2024, uniting as a school to learn what it means to 'choose respect' both within our school community and in our everyday lives.

We kicked off the week in style on Tuesday, with Odd Socks Day, where students and teachers alike had the opportunity to share how we are all unique and the importance of respecting each other’s differences. The day was a vibrant display of creativity, featuring everything from animal prints, bright colours, and even custom sock designs, worn and drawn by the girls themselves. It was heartwarming to witness the excitement and pride as everyone shared their distinctive sock styles with their peers.

Throughout the week, Rowan have been learning about what bullying is, recognising its signs and how to spot it and prevent it. We delved into what it means to make a choice and how choosing respect can have a lasting impact towards making a difference against bullying. Inspired by Aretha Franklin's powerful anthem 'RESPECT,' our Brae and Hill assemblies highlighted the importance of being respectful to one another and how this is a vital part of what makes our Rowan community such a kind and welcoming place to be a part of.

The girls have also enjoyed taking part in anti-bullying themed PSHE lessons and form time activities, exploring ways that respect can be chosen, even in times of disagreement or challenge between friends, including who we can turn to if we see signs of bullying taking place. It was inspiring to see the girls participating confidently in these lessons, demonstrating their passion and commitment to respecting one another.

It was a privilege to witness the profound impact of that our Rowan community has when we come together in solidarity against bullying.
