Year 6 Life Skills - Globe Theatre and Tate Modern

As part of their Life Skills Programme, Year 6 travelled by train into London this week. After a scenic walk along the Thames, they arrived at the famous Shakespeare's Globe theatre. There was a real buzz in the air as girls developed their understanding of Shakespeare and the history of the Globe Theatre, all while listening to the incredibly impressive noise coming from a live rehearsal, inside the open-air theatre. To complement their learning in drama this term, girls participated in an engaging and energetic workshop, which involved drama games, script reading, defining tricky vocabulary and performing with movement.

In the afternoon, Year 6 headed next door, to the Tate Modern. While looking at the inspirational modern artwork on display, girls were tasked to challenge their deeper understanding and reflect on how a variety of shapes and colour can impact how we feel. We were extremely lucky with the weather and even had the opportunity to play with giant bubbles on the walk back to the station! A big thank you to our parent helpers: Mrs Greeno, Ms Leong and Mrs Maingay - we hope you enjoyed the day as much as the girls!
